We celebrated Easter with Ken's family this year. It was a nice day, but not as warm as I had thought it was going to be. Fortunately Jake's outfit had a "Plan B" of pants. We had gotten this cute "Pooh" outfit as a shower gift, but with the guy's little legs, it finally fit him. Well, to be honest, the pants were still a little long, but nothing an extra cuff can't take care of. I knew they were going to make fun of him, but I think he looked wicked cute. So, off we went.
Miss Madison was all pretty in her Easter dress. Unfortunately my photos of her in it are with her coat on, but I'm sure you can guess it was pink and "girly". The Weiss boys were all dressed nicely in their plaid shirts, too. So, since everyone was all fancy pants, nobody made fun of Jake. Well, except for his hat. I love his hat, but I concede it kind of left him open for a few hits.
Anyway, Jordan organized a little "hunt" this year. She hid some eggs along the side of the house. One of the eggs was a special golden egg with an extra prize in it for the lucky person who found it. There was also a bunch of candy thrown all over the place. I have to admit I was scrambling for some boxes of Dots and some Tootsie Rolls. Anyway, back to the kids. They had a blast looking for the eggs. There was no question who would find the golden egg with the dollar in it. Of course it was Ryan. Who else would you expect? I'm sure it went right in his cash register as soon as he got home.
Dinner
was pretty exciting. We were all hanging out in the kitchen when suddenly flames
start shooting out from the oven. I was yelling "Fire, Fire", and they were
totally ignoring me. Finally they look over at the stove, and yup, fire. Now,
we all know Dot's cleaning habits, so she had put a lining of tin foil on the
bottom of Liz's oven. So fortunately Ken Sr just had to grab that foil to get
the grease that was on fire. Good old Rob suggested it be thrown in the sink.
Yah, that's how fires get crazy. We could just see the curtains going up and
then move onto the rest of the house.
Once that was all under control, we all go to eat upstairs at Dot's. They ate there last year, but I wasn't sure if they got special treatment because we weren't there. As it turns out, we are also trusted up there. Although, I'm sure after watching Jacob throw her plastic eggs around her living room next time will be different.
