Ken and I alternate Thanksgivings each year between his and my family. It was a Weiss Thanksgiving this year, so we hosted it at our house. Dot brings the turkey, stuffing, and gravy, and the rest of us all work out the appetizers, desserts, and side dishes. When the appetizers came out it was like feeding time at the zoo. All you could hear was crunch crunch and chomp chomp. You could tell that everyone had been really looking forward to Thanksgiving.

It was finally too cold for horseshoes, so after the frenzy most headed down to the basement to play pool, ping pong, and air hockey. Ken brought the TV downstairs so that nobody would miss any football. They all stayed down there until somebody got a whiff of the turkey being carved. Then, some found their way back to the kitchen. Now, I know it's hard to not sneak a nibble of turkey or a piece of crispy skin, especially for these guys. They were taking major pieces of bird. Liz even said that when we were ready to sit down for dinner she would probably only need side dishes since she had pretty much already eaten enough turkey. When we finally did sit down it was like musical chairs when the music stopped. I had miscounted and we were one chair short. It was kind of funny to watch us all try to figure it out. Eventually we decided the table really was short, and it wasn't our imagination. Liz picked the short straw and headed to the counter to sit alone. See, that's what you get for eating all the turkey early.

The party went on into the night, but only Ken and Dot stayed the night. Yes, we played cards into the wee morning, but not as late as in the past. I guess we all are a little older now, although I'm sure Dot and Ken probably could have kept going.

Dot supervising the carving of Tom The boys shared a table with Paula.
Madison and Jake dined together, although I don't think either of them ate anything. Jake helped Ken clean up
The kids did, however, eat dessert While Dot slept off her dinner
After dinner the kids found some time to catch up on their reading
Paula and Jake The morning after. (I probably needed a bigger bottle of Excedrin)
