A
Daytrip to Davis Farm (06/21/07) |

Since we didn't see my father on Father's Day, we decided to do a daytrip to Davis Farm. We had gone last year with Jacob, and it was a lot of fun. We figured even though Mitchell wasn't really walking he would enjoy it too.
It was a really nice day. We hooked up with my father and Esta at a rest area on the way up so we could all go in one car. That turned out to be less crazy than I thought it would be since we really had no idea where we would do that. Probably the hardest part was having to remember what exit it was at.
We
got there in the later part of the morning, so it wasn't too hot yet. We cruised
around and saw all the animals. There was a special exhibit of some reptiles,
so Jacob got to pet a couple snakes and a lizard. I passed on that. Mitchell
got to pet a baby chick, but we had to pull him away because he kind of tried
to squeeze it. The chick wasn't too crazy about that.
We took a lot of breaks in the many chairs that they have around the place. They are conveniently located in shady spots, so it's great. We could sit and let Jacob chase the chickens or just run around. Mitchell even tries to get a hen. He did his crab walk so that he didn't let the grass touch his knees. I'm sure the chickens were like 'What the heck is coming after us??'.
Once we were done with all the animals, we headed over to the play area. There is a water area with a squirt pad for the little ones and bigger water things for the bigger kids. Jacob hung out a little bit with Mitchell, but he headed out with Ken to the big kids section. Esta, my father, and I stayed with Mitchell because, yes we were sitting happily in the shade.
When Jacob had enough water, we headed over the playscape area. There were lots of things for Jacob to climb on. There were even these little strawberry or tomato houses. We weren't quite sure what they were, but they were just the right size for Mitchell to go in and sit.
It was a lot of fun for the kids, but I think we adults had a lot of fun too. Let's just say Mitchell fell asleep in the parking lot on the way to the car, and Jacob wasn't long after him once we got going.
