We spent an afternoon picking apples and picking out pumpkins. The boys had a really fun time racing thru the hay bale maze. (9/28/08)
The boys had a great Halloween Parade at daycare. Each class was a different barnyard theme. Jacob's class dressed as cows and Mitchell's class was dressed as chickens.. (10/30/08)
Finally it was Halloween. Surprisingly Jacob did not go the super hero route. One day in the car he just said he wanted to be a pirate. He had a lot of fun wearing his costume. He loved every part of it, but I think his favorite part was the mustache. I went back and forth with Mitchell. He is really into trains, but we already had Buzz Lightyear and Clifford the Dog costumes. I decided to bite the bullet and make him a train costume. Mitchell was a trooper and put on his train for each house. He struggled around corners, but he was insistant about having it on along with his engineer's cap. We had a lot of fun going out with their neighbor friend Ty. Well it was all fun and games until Ty lost a wheel... (10/31/08)
We spent a weekend with our friend Jeff putting in a patio for the grill. It will be great to have a special place for the grill. I really like the pavers we chose despite them being a bit more of a puzzle than I figured on. It was a great project even though I caused a lot of work for Ken. First he dug it out all by hand. Then the materials arrived. The driver asked if I would like him to put the process stone in the hole. I figured, 'sure wouldn't that be helpful'. Well not so helpful. Ken spent another day digging out all the stone. Apparently you put that in a few inches at a time and compact it as you go along. Who knew?? In the end it all worked out great, and the boys got to ride in a tractor.. (11/01/08)
