Mr.
Jacob loves going to the park to swing on the swings and going down the big
slides. We figured it was time to get him a play set. Jacob was really excited
when we brought it home but we were a little worried. The box said "16 hours
for experienced 2 experienced people to assemble". Yah, well to be honest I
was more concerned than Ken. We called Uncle Joe to come up and help us. Uncle
Nick heard we were going to do this, so he wanted to come down and watch. I
think he really wanted to come down for entertainment rather than to help, but
we convinced him to come help instead. So, Nick came down on one day and Joe
came down the next day.
It was supposed to be a nice weekend, but it turned out to be rainy. Fortunately Nick and Ken were able to build the house part in the garage. The next day was a little better weather so Joe and Ken were able to get outside to work on it. Joe came up real early and they set out to work. I had to work at it to get them to come in for lunch. Eventually they came in for a quick bite and headed back out. Jacob and I had a picnic to go to, so I reminded them to come in when it was time for supper and headed out.
When
we got back, they were still working. It was like 7PM, so I assumed they had
eaten. Nope. I tried to convince them to come
in, but they assured me they only had a little more to go. They were just fine
tuning some stuff, so we let Jacob take the slide for a test drive. He had one
of those nylon track suits on. Well he came flying down that slide like a bullet.
It was crazy how fast he show down. It was lucky I was at the bottom of the
slide to catch him because the landing was still a little rocky. He was laughing
so hard and ran back to the ladder to go down again. I was more prepared the
next time. prepared this time, so he didn't almost knock me over.
The playscape came out awesome thanks to the help of Joe and Nick. And, for the record it probably only took a couple more hours than the box said. Not too bad, eh?
