Mitchell is totally into trains. He loves looking at books about them, and of course he loves watching Thomas the Tank. So it wasn't too hard to figure out a theme for his birthday party. I made little train invites and decorated the place with the whole train theme. We had train tracks on the floor, railroad crossing signs, and even some toy trains out. He was really excited. Because of his food issues, I had to make a cake. Cakes are definitely not my strong suit. I can bake a cookie, but I usually fail miserably with cakes. They just don't rise evenly and are very crumbly. Well, I gave it a shot and tried to make a "train" cake. Well the engine came out ok if I do say so myself, but the caboose... well, let's just say it really looked like a pink tank. All it was missing was the gun in the turret. Eh, I tried, and Mitchell really didn't care. He was just happy for the train engine part. He had a totally great time and even stayed up way past his nap. He actually made it pretty late before he came up to me and said he wanted to go to bed. I guess he really is getting to be a big boy!
